Nana
Ama McBrown
Some Akan movies can be very hilarious, others are highly ridiculous
with poor storylines messed up with off beam translations. Nowadays,
it’s no wonder that Ghanaian movie lovers can easily reject them
even as gifts.
Nana Ama McBrown, the Ghanaian actress who often features in these Akan
movies has expressed her dissatisfaction over the ongoing rumours that
she hates Jackie, Nadia and Yvonne Nelson because the latter names seem
to be in a different league. She has been picked on by rumour makers
who claim that the ‘queen of Akan movies’ has developed a
deep hatred for the three actresses.
People hold the opinions that, Akan or Twi movies do not even cross all
the borders of the regions in Ghana, not to talk about being
internationally recognized. Unlike Nadia Buari, Jackie Appiah and
Yvonne Nelson who have made it big not only in Africa but other parts
of the world, Nana Ama McBrown can only sit and brag in Kumasi, the
OseiKrom.
She denied all the allegations raised against her in an interview with
Adom Fm. “Why should i hate somebody, i do not hate anybody.
Aden, brofo no na me ntumi nka bi anaa, is it the English that i
can’t speak or what?”
When she was asked why she doesn’t appear more in movies these
days as compared to the past, Nana quickly responded that because of
the situation of the industry right now, she has to be careful which
movies to come out with.
Nana Ama Mcbrown who is also the Nkosuohemaa (queen-mother of
development) of Assin-Basiako near Assin-Fosu in the Central Region
promised her fans to keep their fingers crossed because she will be
storming the market with her must-watch movie that will separate the
boys from the men. Queen Mother of development indeed, Nana Ama, help
develop the movie industry too then.
